As the University of the East Red Warriors’ begins their campaign to clinch their 19th UAAP title fizzled out on the UE’s annual pep rally, as it marks the start of the league’s 73rd season.
Once again, the short program becomes a theatre of rekindled hopes and dreams for the Red & White community when traditional parade and introduction of players were done in an inspiring passion. These bunch of Red Warriors are still movitated by last year’s amazing run and would again try to re-light that glorious bonfire at the middle of the Dalupan ground.
But, this year’s journey to clinch that prestigious title will be tough. Nearly 25 years have elapsed since the last time UE had landed in the summit of glory land, when the legendary Allan Caidic and co. delivered what has been the Red Warriors last championship in the 20th century.
After that, the Red Warriors began their slow descent into the deep abyss, where the UAAP community tag them just as perennial Final 4 contender. The climb into the summit cannot be attained overnight, many great Warriors have had fought to put Lualhati at the top. And, this season many are not returning back. This news is threatening to many and not clear to most.
Last year, we already saw the signs. As I have written these words, I have shared my views with many and most, in some way, admit
that this will be a rough road for the Red Warriors.
Yes, the road ahead will be frightening, the whip of doubt will again test our tender parts of human hope. But, the Red & White community are already awaken, in constant belief and united that the Red Warriors would finally give us what we want the most — 19th UAAP TITLE.
0n saturday, one thing is for sure, that the Red Warriors are not going to the battlefield alone. They will get the full support from their tribal brothers and sisters, the tribal family that has shown them the red side of the force all these years.
UE administrators, alumni, faculty members, students, and fans –in that order– will UNITE AGAIN FOR THE R&W colors!
