A rekindled battle of the east rivalry between the UE Red Warriors and the FEU Tamaraws as they went against each other last July 22 at the Araneta Coliseum.
It was a battle that went neck-to-neck in the 3rd quarter with a 27 points career high performance from Paul Lee. But before that shoot-fest between the two squad, it was a Paul Sanga beyond-the-arc mayhelm in the 1st half of the game which gave the Morayta squad a huge 16 points lead entering the 2nd quarter.
Coach Chongson’s bench then answered the distress call from Paul Lee and Ken Acibar. As Lordy Casajeros and Erwin Duran gave the neccesary minutes to slowly decrease the lead to 7 points with a Paul Lee buzzer beater.
In the 2nd half, a hard defensive campaign was implemented on Paul Lee by Exciminiano and Mendoza, but the two boys from FEU were not enough to repress Paul Lee’s career high offensive onslaught. And, on 50 seconds before the end of 3rd quarter a Lordy Casajeros 3 points shot gave the lead on the first time for the Red Warriors.
With a tight ball game upon entering the final canto the usual tight defense on Paul Lee eventually catch up on him, as Paul Lee was held scoreless. 7:52 minutes of regulation, an Erwin Duran fieldgoal tied the game at 70 each. But after that drive, the big men of FEU completely pounded the paint to retain the tempo on them, even with a late surge from UE was not enough as the FEU Tamaraws remains unbeaten and the UE Red Warriors still winless, 91-81.
