UAAP Season 73 | Game Preview: UE Red Warriors vs NU Bulldogs | Round 1
A tougher NU Bulldogs will go against a struggling UE Red Warriors this coming July 24 at the Araneta Coliseum.
Looking Back: Three consecutive losses, there is nothing to hope for but to finally win a game or pray
for miracle on other teams fate in able for the Red Warriors could have a shot in the Final 4. The two first games were tough to watch, but unlike the game against UST and DLSU respectively. The game over FEU is far more better, the blitz was on the side of the Red until the FEU guard contained Paul Lee on the last quarter of regulation.
However, the Red Warriors’ that went against FEU is the REAL RED WARRIORS we’re used watching. And hope that they will continue that for their future assignments.
Moving Forward: Last game, the rotation of men were finally went right. We do hope that it will continue for the remaining games of the 1st round. We’re hoping that the Red Warriors’ big men be consistent inside the paint. It’s true that we lack athletic big men, but we are bless with bulky and wide guys. Take that as an advantage, just like Sam Razon did over the big men of FEU.
Regarding the guys at the backcourt we’re again bless on that department. Paul Lee is unstoppable, with the help of Reyes, Zamar and the rookie Casajeros to give the large part of the Red Warriors offensive arsenal. In the meantime, we do hope that the veteran James Martinez get into his usual self and contribute in the scoring sheet.
Prediction: Another real contender, after a big win against DLSU and two nice games. The NU Bulldogs are a dangerous squad. In order for the Red Warriors’ to get this win, they must be able to contain the starting five of NU. Emmanuel Mbe is their main man, give him no clear ball possession, and the ball is on his hand – double team him immediately. The NU squad really loves to play at a slower pace, obviously to set up Mbe at the lost post. So, the Red Warriors should control the tempo in a much quicker pace.
