UAAP Season 73 | Game Review: UE Red Warriors vs FEU Tamaraws | Round 2
FEU Tamaraws’ elimination sweep against the UE Red Warriors since 2004; A clothesline by Reil Cervantes over a Paul Lee drive; A missed lay-up by Raffy Reyes that may have sealed the game for the Red Warriors; and a classic Battle of the East rivalry. That’s what happened last sunday August 15, 2010 at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City between two old rival schools from Morayta and Azcarraga.
The game that was an almost a FEU show, because of a strong start that gave the Tamaraws a commanding 18 points advantage. But the Red Warriors who made an incredible and persistent run that tie the game in the last minute of regulation.
I have nothing to say about that game, imagine only Mark Barroca was the sole player no longer in that FEU line-up, but a line-up of Red Warriors with no more Elmer Espiritu, Pari Llagas, Val Acuña, and Rudy Lingganay were still able to give the Morayta side a good fight. Oh, plus we don’t have Sam Razon, Garrick Ayala, and Adrian Santos in that game.
A great game that just not went our way in the overtime period. Anyway, their RR Garcia was just to good and our Paul Lee was just have a sour game, that may I think spell the difference. Aside of course with a bad day in the perimeter line.
We have to acknowlegde Ken Acibar’s magnificent game, a double-double performance for him, matching the record made by former UST Tiger Jervy Cruz, when he registered 20 rebounds. Plus, being dead last in the rebounding department we actually match them in the boards 43-42.
Aside from that even with a small line-up we pushed the ball inside the paint. And because of this we also made a good day in the free throw line, commanding on our side was Paul Zamar, who was the life saviour in the 1st half.
Lastly, the only thing that we have take note into was our turnovers in the overtime period.
